Bye Bye Dark Spot with Clinelle Whiten Up Brightening Series

Hello gorgeous, welcome back to my blog! If you’re new, then welcome and nice to meet you. Having acne scar and discoloration on my skin is really a burden, especially when I love to look natural rather than full coverage makeup on daily basis. Besides, brightening product has attract the attention lately. That’s why, I’m trying this new brightening skincare.

Clinelle launched their newest product line, Whiten Up series a while ago. They’re kind enough to send me the whole range of this Whiten Up series to try at home. Anyway, congrats on the launch! I’m wondering, have you ever heard of the brand?

Clinelle is a skincare brand from Malaysia and they formulated and manufacture their series in different countries, for Clinelle Whiten Up series is formulated and manufactured in USA. Of course clinically safe, since all Clinelle products are Dermatologically Tested and we don’t need to doubt about the technology they’re using. Entered Indonesia in December 2017 with their  Pureswiss Hydracalm series, now they’ve sold some series here at Guardian store. The newest one is what we’re gonna discuss, the Whiten Up.

Anyway, Clinelle also has a good principal, the 7 nos:

1.     No artificial perfume

2.     No artificial color

3.     Non comedogenic

4.     No mineral oil

5.     No alcohol

6.     No paraben

7.     No lanolin

Here’s the products they sent me:

I got face wash, toner, serum, spot treatment, day cream, and night cream. After using these babies, I classified them into two parts (as the result of usage). This series was meant for skin with concerns of hydration, whitening, and brightening.

Disclaimer: Results may vary due to skin condition and skin concern. Each person can get different effect, even with the same skin condition. Mine’s normal-to-oily combination skin and sensitive (easily got black/whiteheads and acne).

Here’s the first part: products that works well on me.

Here’s the first three products I tried, got no trouble using it and yet my fave from the range. The light ones, I guess.

1.     WhitenUP Brightening Cleanser

Size: 100ml

Price: IDR 99.000

Claim: A non-drying cleanser in gel texture that effectively removes impurities and combats skin dullness while offers deep cleansing & soothing action.

How to use:

Pour the product onto wet hands, foam it. Then gently massage it onto your face and neck. Rinse with clean water. Use twice a day, morning and evening.

This product has a clear-gel-texture yet have not-so-small amount of foam. Even if it’s foamy, after we rinse our face won’t feel dry. This one’s a good point.

2.     WhitenUP Brightening Toner

Size: 120ml

Price: IDR 149.000

Claim: a spray-on unique formulation to refine pores, tone skin & improve the absorption of subsequent products into skin.

How to use:

Spray adequate amount over cleansed skin to face and neck. Pat gently for better absorption.

This one feels hydrating and makes my skin plump. Not so fast drying I can say, maybe because they don’t content alcohol. But absorbed onto my skin well. Not an exfoliating one, more onto hydrating. The spray kinda toner like this is my fave since it makes easier on usage. Unfortunately, mine didn’t worked. I don’t know what’s wrong but can’t use the spray, so decided to open up the spray and pour it onto some cotton pads.

3.     WhitenUP Brightening Spot Corrector Essence

Size: 15ml

Price: IDR 259.000

Claim: A silky-rich formulation with high potency to reduce pigmentation, lighten dark spots/scars & fight against discoloration & improve skin tone.

How to use: apply directly to areas of discoloration on cleansed and toned face. Use twice a day to improve skin tone and clarity.

I find this one as the best amongst others! The biggest effect is from this baby. Even though it’s very small and we only use a small amount of it, yet we use it directly onto the part we want to correct. The creamy texture makes sure to cover your dark spot, and yet absorbs well onto my skin. It works on fading my acne scar on my cheek, amazingly! Usually it takes months and even years to correct my acne scars, hands up to this product!! Zhen bang.

This WhitenUP Brightening Series has 3 main ingredients:

-       Purple rice extract to helps maximizing brightening effect

-       Vitamin c that contains high antioxidant and prevent aging

-       Daisy flower extract to protect skin from UV, pollution, and free radicals

And here’s the other products that doesn’t really well on my skin. Again and again I just wanna remind that our skin might act differently. My guess, this don’t work well because the texture’s thick and my skin’s sensitive, so it won’t work with thick products. Further more, mine’s normal to oily skin which works better with gel-textured skincare, and this one’s more onto creamy side. But if you have dry skin, I believe these are the best brightening skincare for you!

4.     Clinelle WhitenUP Brightening Serum

Size: 20ml

Price: IDR 299.000

Claim: A highly concentrated serum that lightens pigmentation, prevents melanin foundation for fast & effective brightening.

How to use:

Smooth over thoroughly cleaned and toned face and neck. Use twice a day.

This baby’s a light product I can say, since almost all serum born that way. Absorbs well onto my skin, yet after 1-2 weeks of usage haven’t seen any significant effect.

These two babies, I put onto this category because I got more and more acne after using them. Still curing my acne now, but it getting better after stop these two.

5.     WhitenUP Brightening Night Cream

Size: 40ml

Price: IDR 269.000

Claim: Empowered by Great Mullein Flower Extracts and Advanced Anti-Photoaging Technology, this nourishing cream protects skin from photo-aging, promotes cell renewal through the night & supports skin’s moisture barrier.

How to use:

Apply whitening night cream evenly on the cleansed and toned face and neck.

This one has the thickest texture amongst others. Takes a while to absorb onto my skin, and a bit sticky but still bearable. This helps moisturize skin well to dry skin, but not to combination sensitive skin like mine.

6.     WhitenUP Brightening Day Cream SPF20

Size: 40ml

Price: IDR 239.000

Claim: A non-greasy, light textured day moisturizer with SPF20 that protects skin from UV damage, nourishes skin by preventing skin darkening & reduces the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles.

How to use:

Apply whitening day cream SPF20 evenly on the cleansed and toned face and neck at least 30 minutes prior to sun exposure.

I always love day cream with spf, makes it easier on prep time. Using one product covers two function, well done! No white cast after usage. Yet, because of the texture it didn’t work really well on my skin. But I think it’ll work on dry skin or maybe normal skin.

After using all these products, here’s the final result on my skin. It did got breakouts after usage, yet the spot corrector get it work done! My acne scar fading after 1-2 weeks of usage, which is really fast.
